I’ve been gradually getting my Remote set up and I’m not too familair with HA yet but am enjoying learning. I wondered if there was a way to display on my Remote the Data Allowance remaining details I have in a Utility meter on HA somehow?
At the moment there is no way to display a readout from an individual sensor. The remote is currently aimed at controllable entities. It does provide a readout of the weather with ROS Weather card. Also provides a readout of temperatures and settings with the ROS Climate Control Card.
Astrion would have to add a ROS sensor card. It should be possible but not available yet.
I guess a dodgy way to do it at the moment would be helper or script of some kind in HA to parse the usage data you want into a temperature or light dimmer % etc.
Massive hack and a bit jank though. wait for more software updates i’d say.
Ok, thanks for that. I’ll hold fire with that for the future.
Hey guys,
Thanks for the discussion and the helpful suggestions shared here ![]()
You’re absolutely right — at the moment Astrion Remote is primarily focused on controllable entities rather than displaying arbitrary sensor readouts. That’s why things like weather and climate work well today, while direct display of individual Home Assistant sensor values (such as data usage or utility meters) is not yet supported.
However, displaying informational sensors is something we are actively evaluating. I will suggest the team to develop a new dedicated ROS Sensor / Information Card which would allow users to show custom sensor data like:
• data usage / allowance
• energy monitoring
• network statistics
• utility meters
• or other HA sensor values
We agree this is an important use case for many Home Assistant setups.
For now, the helper/script workaround mentioned above can work as a temporary solution, but we’d recommend waiting for upcoming software updates rather than building complex workarounds.
We appreciate the feedback — discussions like this directly help shape Astrion’s development priorities.
