Astrion V1.4 Update Issue – Resolution & Explanation

Hi Astrion Community,

We would like to provide an update regarding the notification issue experienced by some users after upgrading to Astrion V1.4.

What happened?

After the V1.4 release, some users experienced a repeated update notification / update screen loop.

After investigation, we identified that the issue was caused by a server-side update configuration problem.

Resolution

The server-side issue has now been fixed.

:white_check_mark: Users who have already upgraded to V1.4 do not need to reinstall, downgrade, or take any additional action.

Once the server correction was applied, the issue was resolved automatically.

What we learned

First, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who reported the issue and provided feedback.

Astrion users are a very technical and engaged community. Many of you are experienced Home Assistant users, integrators, and developers, and your feedback plays an important role in shaping the product.

For this release, our team focused on delivering the new features quickly. Since V1.4 was a minor version update rather than a major platform transition, we made the decision to release without going through a longer alpha/beta validation process.

In hindsight, this was not the right decision.

Although the issue was not caused by the firmware itself, we recognize that the release process should include more comprehensive validation to prevent unexpected user impact.

We will improve our process going forward, including:

  • More extensive pre-release testing

  • Better staged rollout procedures

  • Additional validation of update infrastructure

  • Earlier community testing when appropriate

Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

Astrion is being built together with this community, and your feedback helps us make it better.
