The DotKey (tactile key) and KnobKey (control knob) on your UltraBar X are perfect for creating a custom button layout that resides directly on the device. Here’s how we plan to support your workflow with OBS and other trusted software:
- Primary & Powerful Method: Keyboard Hotkey Emulation
This is the most universal and reliable method we will support out-of-the-box.
· How it works: You will use our configuration software to assign any keyboard shortcut (e.g., Ctrl+F1, Alt+Shift+S) to a press of the DotKey or a turn of the KonbKey.
· Integration with OBS: Simply go into OBS’s settings and map the same keyboard shortcuts to your desired actions (Start Stream, Switch Scene, Mute Mic, etc.).
· Why it’s great: This method works with almost any software on your PC that supports hotkeys, not just OBS, giving you incredible flexibility.
- Direct Integration & Future Vision
We understand the desire for even deeper integration than hotkeys can provide.
· Current Stance on 3rd-party Apps (e.g., MacroDeck): For the initial release, to ensure system stability and a seamless user experience, our configuration software will not have a direct, official plugin for third-party macro applications like MacroDeck.
· Our Commitment: However, the vision for a deeply integrated “Stream Deck” experience is fully on our radar. We are actively exploring the best ways to achieve this, which could include developing our own powerful macro system within the LineOS™ ecosystem or creating a more open API/SDK in the future.
